Lauri plays multiple intruments but his main instrument is the guitar. As a musician he is known for his improvising skills and being able to play a wide range of styles, sounds and techniques. In addition to solo performances he has played guitar in theater productions and multiple contemporary dance productions like Oneiros Resort. Peltonen has played guitar as a part of the international The Orchestra Of Crafty Guitarists. He also played lead guitar in Vantaan Näyttämö ‘s Vuonna 85 musical (2024) and The Addams Family musical (2025). He also played lead guitar in Vantaan Näyttämö ‘s musical Vuonna 85.
For fifteen years Lauri has used the New Standard Tuning (NST): a tuning that was originally introduced by Robert Fripp. Also recommended to visit: https://guitarcraft.com/
Lauri has worked in Finland with the New Standard Tuning, being one of the few guitarists if not the only one in Finland who uses this tuning almost exclusively.
In his current ambient performances Lauri uses a guitar synthesizer and loopers, long delays etc. that gives him a wide range of tonal possibilities to create magical soundscapes, ambient music and loop music. Lauri Peltonen works with carefully sculpted guitar synthesizer sounds that are rich with diverse textures. Lauri's ambient is at the same time grounding and a celebration of fantasy and imagination. It has been said to be like a dream that you don't want to end, or a warm hug from a dear friend.
Lauri’s ambient project since 2023 has been Off-World Moments.
